Tell Me How You Feel- No, I'll Guess
Here’s my problem. How do you ever know what someone else is feeling? Like when you ask someone and they say, “Fine,” how do you just know what fine feels like. For me, fine is a grit-your-teeth-and-struggle-through-the-day feeling. Other people may think of fine as an everything-is-right-in-the-world-and-I’m-so-happy-I-could-die feeling. It just doesn’t make any sense to me. I guess it partly depends on the context. I mean, it’s like being in a high school English class, usi

Paging All Justice League Members
One week has passed since Steppin’ Up happened. I’ve never been to anything quite like it. There’s just this atmosphere to it, it’s really hard to describe. Although I’m not going to give you a play-by-play of the event I was struck most by the size of it. There were just so many people. It was the second time I’ve been to Steppin’ Up so I can’t really compare it to other years, but wow. I think that all of Claremont was there. Seriously. It was so awe-inspiring to be around
I Walk (Across) the (Finish) Line
To everyone who doesn’t know, Turning Points Network in Claremont is heavily involved with Green Dot. For a while now, they’ve organized their fun run, Steppin’ Up. I’m so excited to attend tomorrow. I’ve created my own team and everything. We are PUMPED to attend. For weeks we have been practicing. I think my boss is more excited than me, because I’ve been skipping around the office for weeks now, and he’s telling me I’ve taken my enthusiasm and ‘run’ too far with it. HAH.

Tea-Like Diffusion
I’m not really a big fan of metaphors. To me, they seem to sort of dance around what they are actually trying to say. It is ironic, because I write with metaphors all the time. In fact, I want you to imagine a glass of tea. The tea is golden brown, maybe it has some honey in it--no, MAPLE SYRUP. Since you’re kind of a hipster and care about the environment you’ve opted for a metal infuser that’s filled with loose leaf tea, instead of traditional tea bags. You’re not super de

A Magic 8 Ball's Wisdom
When I need a break from work, and life in general, I go shopping. I don’t tend to buy anything. But I like to walk down the aisles, especially in clothing stores and fold clothes on messy store displays as I go along. Don’t ask me why I do it, I think it harks back to the good-old days when I worked as a cashier at the GAP. That job was ok, but I really appreciated the employee discount and my evolving, killer style. To this day, I’m kinda a fashionista. This blog is not abo

Like That one Flobots' Song
Let me start off by saying, I don't want to sound all mushy and gushy, but I really need to say something. From the bottom of my heart, I need to say, "THANK YOU." I know you're probably bummed out because you've come to expect a lot from my glorious posts, but hear me out. Recently, in the last year or so, I've been watching the news a lot, well maybe twice a week tops with month long breaks in between. But that still counts as a lot right? More to the point, I have listened

How You Doin'?
Confession time, I could not sleep last night because I was so excited for tomorrow (Saturday, March 24th), the culmination of everything good in the world, all that positivity, those good vibes, and green dots. Well, I was also up late binge watching Friends for the 5th time on Netflix and eating ice-cream, but that’s not the point. The point is that, hello, tomorrow is the Green Dot Spotlight Week celebration at The Java Cup. The best part, YOUR FIRST COFFEE IS ON THEM. Wh

Calling All Circles, Squares, & Triangles
What’s good everyone? It feels like it’s been ages since I’ve written anything…yeah, more like 6 days. So for this post, there is no theme. I have no ulterior motive. I am not going to try to coax, harass, or guilt you into attending Spotlight Week activities. For instance, I’m not going to brag about how fun the event is going to be. I’m also not going to say that I WILL BE THERE, in the flesh. Lucky you, you will get to meet a real-life celebrity—my fans’ words, not mine. Y

All Those Wonderful Ripples
Recently, a lot of people (2) have come up to me and asked, “Isn’t it scary to be an active bystander?” and “Why do you do it?” I told the first person, “Yes, I’m obviously not meant to be a security guard, and sometimes that’s what being an active bystander feels like.” But when the second person asked me, I wasn’t as surprised by the questions. In fact, I think I had a pretty good, perhaps too honest, response. I told them, “I’m actually an incredibly selfish person. I’m se

Claremont Green Dot: A History Lesson
Travel back with me to the year 2016, what a year. It was that year that I chopped all my hair off and dyed it green, accidentally of course. Little did I know, that even as I was trying to wash out that awful green, it would return to me in a slightly different hue: Green Dot (GD). Green Dot originally started in Homer, AK, but in 2016 it traveled the 4,633 miles—I mapquested it—to Claremont, NH. When it arrived, two organizations became heavily involved in implementing it,
